What was Toxicity like right when it dropped?

Main Post:

I wasn’t alive when toxicity dropped let alone would understand the impact it made with it being released right after 9/11. For the fans who were around what was it like and how was it received?

Top Comment: The music video for Chop Suey was played every 4th song on music channels.

Reddit is toxic

Main Post:

Cliché, I know but Reddit is probably the most toxic of all social media.

Just reading puts you in a bad mood, everyone is abrasive, negative, and plain stupid AF.

I am done. I am deleting my 2 accounts, and never coming back.

If you want to relly decide to be better you'd do the same.

Top Comment: You're not the first person to point this out and it made me realize that I wasn't having that experience. A little bit of digging and I couldn't help but notice a trend in most people with negative experiences on Reddit; the subs they frequented and interacted with the most were magnets for negativity. You find what you look for. It's a universal rule. I'm sorry you had shit experiences here and I hope that your decision pans out in the most positive way for you.

Why is Reddit so toxic?

Main Post:

You have to be so careful with every word you use because people will use it against you.

No matter what you say, everyone will always try to disagree with you or find an excuse in your logic/wording to be toxic and attack you. They will also take what you’re saying out of context and make up their own assumptions.

For example, this happened recently. I asked on a subreddit about “exit” plans women have for first dates because I’d never heard of this before and people were making conspiracy theories and accusing me of wanting to gather intel to “counter” their plans, wtf.

Top Comment: Anonymity removing people's natural inhibition, the format's rewarding of controversial takes, and groupthink.

Reddit is becoming really toxic.

Main Post:

I am at the verge of throwing away this account.

I do not understand whyyyyyyy some people choose to be soooooo toxic on this app. Are some of you guys from facebook?! Are you bored on Facebook that you have to come here and show your toxicity in this community?

Reddit used to be such a nice and informative place to doom scroll but now, all I see is negativity and bullying and just ... Urgh. OH AND SO MUCH JUDGING.

Damn these people. Seriously.

Top Comment: Becoming?
